Outreach & Events

In addition to its function as a platform for exchange and encounters, we also see great potential for the JIK to help shape public debates around migration and social diversity, having a positive influence on this discourse.

The outreach department aims to increase publicity and reach the perspectives of our network. As a civil society actor, we also aim to engage with stakeholders from politics, academia, media, and civil society to enter into dialogue with them on topics of Islam and Muslims in Germany, diversity, participation, and representation.

JIK content will be communicated through various publications and during outreach events.

JIK TALKS

Based on the concept of TED Talks, JIK Talks are an innovative format of the Young Islam Conference and are aimed at the general public. One purpose of JIK talks is to illuminate Islam-related debates in different ways and to continue them in a constructive way. The aim is to provide new inputs beyond clichés, stereotypical images, and perceived truths to talk to each other at eye level.

Moving Europe

The European project Moving Europe – Negotiating Legacies of Migration at the Museum aims to empower museums, school teachers, and young people to explore and negotiate legacies of migration by directly involving members of migration communities.  The project seeks to increase awareness about the complexities of migration and invites the general public to address stereotypes, prejudices, myths and misconceptions about migrants. The project partners are MigrationLab, EuroClio and museums from all over Europe: the Museum of Emigration in Gdynia, Poland, the Multicultural Center in Stockholm, Sweden, The Foundation – National Museum of Italian Emigration from Genoa, Italy, The History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina from Sarajevo, Bosnia and the Migration Museum of Denmark in Farum, Denmark.
