Background

The JIK was founded in Berlin in 2011 as a project of the Humboldt University of Berlin and the Mercator Foundation. Since October 2019, the Young Islam Conference is a programme area of the Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe.

As a disclaimer, we are not a religious project, nor a forum only for Muslims. Our orientation is recognisable in the name: We see ourselves as a dialogue platform and empowerment space for young people to constructively deal with issues of equal coexistence in a migration society. This includes Islam-related topics as well as dealing with difference, accepting diversity, and questions of identity and belonging.
