Background

The JIK was founded in Berlin in 2011 as a project of Humboldt University Berlin and the Mercator Foundation. Since October 2019, the Young Islam Conference has been part of the Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe and has been part of the Young Postmigrant Alliances program area since 2024.

We are not a religious project or a forum exclusively for Muslims. We see ourselves as a platform for exchange and a space for empowerment on issues of equitable participation and related topics of coexistence in a post-migrant society.

This includes topics that affect Muslim minorities as well as dealing with difference, the acceptance of diversity, and questions of belonging.
